We’re Hiring: VTAS Fitness Centre Coordinator

  • Part-time, hybrid position (approx. 30 hours per month)
  • Fixed monthly pay rate ($800 per month, including phone allowance)

The Victoria Trail Agricultural Society (VTAS) is a not-for-profit community group that provides programs, services and facilities to Waskatenau, Alberta, and the surrounding area. We are looking for a VTAS Fitness Centre Coordinator to manage our fitness facility and provide quality customer service to our members. 

Training will be provided for the successful applicant. 

Key responsibilities:

  • On-site activities:
    • Check fitness centre each morning to confirm front and back doors are locked, replenish equipment wipes and vacuum the front mat (if dirty).
    • Meet all new members for their first visit to ensure their electronic access app works, review facility rules and complete their facility waiver form.
    • Monitor camera/security system from your mobile phone and complete random drop-ins at the facility to confirm users are active members.
    • Empty the dehumidifier during summer months and maintain snow-free entrances during winter months. 
    • Monitor and order fitness centre supplies as required.

  • Remote (work from home) activities:
    • Remotely unlock the facility door from your mobile phone via an electronic intercom system if members are unable to access the facility.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for all fitness centre inquiries. This includes making your mobile phone number publicly available, so prospective and existing members can contact you.
    • Promptly respond to all inquiries via phone/text, email and Facebook.
    • Collect and track new member information, including names, mobile phone numbers and email addresses.
    • Obtain copies of e-transfer confirmations from the VTAS treasurer for all new and renewed memberships.
    • Upon collecting member and payment information, set them up in our electronic access system for facility access. 
    • Reach out to all fitness centre members via text message 1 week before their membership expires to inform them of their expiration date. 
    • Share key membership details with VTAS volunteers to contribute to operational reports. 
    • Submit janitorial calendar to the VTAS Treasurer each month.
    • Check in with VTAS volunteer(s) monthly to provide progress updates. 
    • Notify VTAS volunteers about equipment malfunction or maintenance requirements as needed. 

Requirements to be successful: 

  • People-oriented, with strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Organized, responsible and detail-oriented. 
  • Must have and be willing to use personal phone and laptop.
