Maybe this sounds familiar… You start your new fitness regime highly motivated and with good intentions. But after a few weeks or a few months, you struggle to keep going. This happens to the best of us, but you want to try to avoid this situation so you can continue benefiting from regular exercise.
Here are 4 tips to stay motivated at the gym:
1. Train with a gym buddy
It’s much easier to keep yourself motivated when training with a gym buddy. Find someone to hit the treadmill and complete weight training with. Whether you train together full-time or only workout together once per week, a gym buddy will make exercising more fun.
2. Listen to music
Do you have a favourite playlist or a few tunes that never fail to pump you up? Listen to music while exercising to keep up your energy levels! Pop in your headphones and away you go.
3. Follow a training schedule
Following a consistent training schedule can motivate you to keep up with your exercise regime. Think about it this way, if you don’t finish your training schedule, you won’t reach your fitness goals!
4. Reward yourself
Rewarding yourself for going to the gym can help keep you motivated. For example, you could treat yourself to an ice-cream sundae or a new workout shirt at the end of each month if you go to the gym 2-3 times per week. Choose a reward that works best for you to keep yourself motivated.
