Circuit Training: 30 Seconds On, 30 Seconds Off

Circuit training involves a combination of exercises performed with short rest periods between them, either for a set number of repetitions or a specific amount of time. One circuit is considered complete when all exercises have been performed.

Why is circuit training so popular? One reason people love it is because it’s time efficient. You can be in and out of the gym in 30 minutes or less depending on the type of circuit you complete. Additionally, circuit training is a great way to improve cardiovascular fitness and muscular endurance.

The following circuit training workout uses the ‘30 seconds on, 30 seconds off’ method. You perform each exercise for 30 seconds, aiming to complete as many repetitions as possible using proper form, then rest for 30 seconds.

Start by warming up your muscles with 5 minutes on the treadmill, stationary bike or elliptical machine. Then, complete the whole circuit three times, with three minutes rest between each circuit.

30 Seconds On, 30 Seconds Off

  1. Jump squat
  2. Push ups
  3. Ab bicycles
  4. High knees

It seems simple, but you’ll feel the burn! If you can, keep track of how many repetitions you complete during each circuit. That way, you can see your progress over time and work towards your personal best during every workout.
