VTAS Fitness Centre: A Year In Review

It’s been an unusual year for the VTAS Fitness Centre, as we intermittently closed our facility from January to June due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, once we fully reopened in June, existing members returned and we consistently welcomed new members. It’s always great to see the community utilizing our state-of-the-art facility!

In 2021, we introduced a free Seniors Fitness Program for the first time ever. The purpose of the program is to promote the improvement of strength, mobility, flexibility and more for older adults, while enjoying a fun, supportive environment. Our senior participants hit the gym with a certified trainer once per week and had a blast!

We also kept our fitness blog up to date throughout the year with workout regimes, healthy recipes and more for the benefit of our members and the community. If you have any suggestions for topics, we’re always open to your ideas!

Last, but certainly not least, a huge thank you to our key volunteers – Joan Lazowski, Sandra Toews and Jim Toews – who have spent countless hours maintaining the VTAS Fitness Centre, administering memberships and assisting our members. We couldn’t operate our facility without their support and hard work!
